This
ceremony uses the four elements: Water, earth, fire and air, all four
elements are sacred and very important to the Native Americans, and to
all who take part in this Sweat Lodge, and in reapeatedly taking part
in this ceremony we will gradually come to realize
what an important part they play in our purification.
The rocks that are used are also considered to be sacred spirits and are
treated with great respect. They are imprinted with the history of Mother
Earth, and while they are emitting steam are teaching us lessons of life.
So that they may pass on their wisdom, we offer prayers and tobacco when
we gather them for the ceremony, offering them to the ones that we feel
are willing to make this sacrifice for the people.
After being smudged with sage smoke , to further clear any
negativity
around us, we enter the lodge in a line, kneeling at the door in humility
before Mother Earth, Great Spirit.
This ceremony is a complete ceremony in itself it is also used as a purification
before almost all other ceremonies, such as Vision Quests, Dances,
Medicine Wheel work etc,
